About Dustin W. Fletcher
Visually, I gravitate toward urban and older, decaying suburban environments. What most consider blight, I consider beautiful. These are the neighborhoods I live and work in, so that makes it convenient, too. Rarely do I leave the house without a camera. But why have I always been drawn to these subjects? The film Koyaanisquatsi was a profound influence. One of its creators said that his goal was to take the background and make it the foreground. That, along with some shyness, I guess, is why my photography usually does not include people.
This site looks best in Mac's Safari browser, which is available for download even if you use a Windows system. Firefox is decent, and Internet Explorer seems to look the worst.
I own the copyright to every image on this site. However, if you'd like to use one, simply e-mail me with a note regarding what image you like and what you intend to use it for. As a rule I do not sell photographs, but for personal use and for non-profits I will give them away most of the time..
Thank you for looking, and of course I love to get feedback and especially criticism.
Because I do not like to write much on the photoblog itslef (sometimes I'll write something but I feel the work should stand alone), I've created a companion blog that you can find by clicking "words" at the top of your screen. There I will sometimes write very informally about what I shot. There's also a "Photographer of the Week" thing going on, and sometimes I may write about other stuff, too. I love to write and can get pretty damn wordy, so enter at your own risk.
Please take the time to visit some or all of the links below. Some are not listed in VFXY, Photoblogs.org, etc., so you may not have found them yet. And if you do not see your site on there but would like to, e-mail me and I'll put it on. This HTML thing is extremely tedius for me, so I just got tired and quit. It's a work in progress...far from complete (especially the "Additional Links" section which starts with some aggregators but will move onto my real-life friends' sites).
